The Chrysler building is amongst some of the tallest buildings in the world. It is the second tallest building and comes after the Empire State building. Chrysler Building is one of the classical buildings with art deco architecture, and it is considered to be one of the most elegant castles in existence.[1] Chrysler building project that involved the collaboration between tow architects in the year 1927: William Van Alen and contractor William H. Reynolds. Van had a unique idea of the building. His original design comprised of a decorative diamond crown. His plan also constituted of the structure having showroom windows. Nonetheless, vans ideas was quiet expensive and hence decided to go for Reynolds preferences. The design of the building was later on leased to an industrialist known as Walter p. Chrysler.

In 1928, Chrysler had an idea that the project will be able to create opportunities for him. Chrysler who owned an automobile company wanted to make a clear statement since he had become very prominent in business. Chrysler had the idea that upon the completion of the building, the building would have resulted in the growth and progress of several companies. As a result, Chrysler requested Van Alen to style his structure the highest in New York City. This resulted in to a competition for the establishment of the tallest buildings. In the year 1929, the building was completed and had a height of 1046.[2] However, the legacy of its tallness only lasted for a short period. In May 1931, the Empire state building was completed hence became the tallest toppling Chrysler building.

The Chrysler building beauty brings out different aesthetic representations. With a sky-piercing spire, the sleekness of its metallic ornaments and a bright and metal lined interiors, the Chrysler building is used to express different aspects in New York City. The structure reveals that the time when it was build was an era which had a lot of wealth concentration as well as an industrial power.The lobby of the building is one clear indication of the expenses incurred. The hall consisted of fascinating murals which covered the whole ceiling. Walls of the building were fitted with expensive marbles a clear evidence that a lot of resources were spent on the building. The dim lighting used in the lobby was also used to bring out a great mood and the enhancement of the whole scene.

The Chrysler building is an important piece of art in ancient time. The Art deco design that was used in its construction was one of the major building styles at that time. Art deco design at that time was characterized by a modernized technology and comprised of smooth and luxurious colors.[3] The art also involved the use of expensive materials which helped to bring out designs that are of elegance and glamorous. Chrysler Building was influenced by some activities which were taking place historically. The building was created when the American economy was doing well, but unfortunately, there was no enough space to use for offices. All the builders and architects were encouraged to build very high buildings to be able to create enough space.

The building’s design used in the Chrysler building was also used in different kinds of work at that time. Apart from Chrysler building, the Empire State building whose completion was in May 1931 had a similar design.[4] Other several buildings in different places in the world also have a similar style in their art, including countries like South Africa, India Britain as well as Indonesia. The art deco design was used to be able to inspire other different styles of artwork and crafts. From the beginning of the 1940s, the Art Deco design started declining, and hence this resulted in the development of contemporary design and art.

The Chrysler building was of great significance in the 20^th-century world. The building is one that is regarded as the masterpiece of art deco architecture.[5] Its creation came at a time when different individuals were struggling to come up with a building in New York City. The aesthetic expression is of significance because it helps to act as a representation of the amount of wealth as well as the revolution that was taking place in the industrial sector, especially the automobile companies. The Chrysler building having used art deco architecture, it was able to open a way for the development of other architectural designs, including contemporary art. The building also expresses that New York was a beautiful city with a wide range of resources.

From an analysis of Chrysler building, it is a castle built at a time when business was doing very well in the economy, and the growth necessitated the creation of more space. The structure is one of the most lovely and significant in New York. Based on the resources and skills used in its construction, in my opinion, it should have been used as an art-house where different exhibitions would be taking place. Furthermore, the building should have been used as a learning site for upcoming artists. Upcoming artists would be able to learn about the skills used in the construction as well as new insights for architectural designs brought up.

Upon the completion of the building in 1928, critics came out to express their opinions about the building. Van Alen and Chrysler had a misunderstanding .as a result, Chrysler accused van of bribery and as a result, ended up not paying the contactor the total amount needed for the work. Additionally, some critics were not impressed with the building. Some critics suggested the building was clad with metals hence making it look too romantic and ambitious.[6] Critics further stated that the building was only built for advertisement purposes. In as much as all these negative aspects were there, Chrysler building is very peculiar in New York City.

In conclusion, Chrysler building is one of the elegant architecture in New York City. The structure was a project collaboration which involved two architects; Van Alen and William Reynolds. In the year 1928, the two architects sold the project to Chrysler. The construction of Chrysler building begun after that and was completed in 1929.  At that time it was the higheststructures in New York City and had a height of 1046 feet. In May 1931, the empire state building was concluded and became the tallest building toppling Chrysler building. The buildings’ design helps to bring out what it symbolized. The spike pointed out in the sky, and the lustrous metals which were used helped to describe the beauty of New York City as well as the wealth and growth in different industries. The buildings dim lighting as well as the lobby indicated the use of expensive materials. As a result, the building brings out an elegant design. The building design also used the Art Deco, which helped to bring out the magnificence of the building. Chrysler building is of importance in ancient time because it was set up when New York was doing well economically, and the shortage of office spaces necessitated its construction.
